Perch is Norway's most accessible predatory fish and can be found in most southern lakes and rivers. It bites on almost anything and is perfect for getting started with sport fishing – and for experienced anglers, a large perch is a valuable trophy.
Perch bite on almost anything – rubber lures, worms and spinners. Jigs in bright colours (green, yellow, orange) are very effective near the bottom. Twisters and grub lures work well at various depths. In winter under ice, worms are the safest choice.
Jigging near the bottom and around structures such as rocks, stumps and jetties gives the best results. Perch are active all year round – including under ice. They fish best in spring (after ice-out) and early autumn, but bite well on most days. Perch school together, so if you find one, there are usually more nearby.
