Privacy Policy for Fiskebørs

At Fiskebørs, your privacy matters to us. This page explains in simple terms how we take care of your information when you use our website and app. We naturally comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1. Who is responsible for your data?

Fiskebørs, by Geir Rune Grøtan, is responsible for how your personal data is processed.
Email: post@fiskebors.no

2. What information do we collect about you?

To provide you with the Fiskebørs service, we may collect the following types of information:

  • Account information: When you register, we store your name, email address, username and password (encrypted).
  • Catch data: Information you enter about your fishing trips, such as species, weight, length, photos, date, time, location (if you share position), descriptions, equipment, weather conditions, and other details you choose to log.
  • Usage data: Information about how you use the Service, including which features you use, pages visited, time spent on the Service, and interactions.
  • Technical data: IP address (may be anonymised), device type, operating system and browser. This helps us ensure the Service works well.
  • Cookies: We use cookies to improve the experience and analyse use of the Service. You will be asked to consent to cookies that are not strictly necessary.

3. How do we use your information?

We use the information we collect to:

  • Deliver and operate the Service (e.g. store your catches, show statistics and Hall of Fame).
  • Manage your user account and provide you with support.
  • Analyse use of the Service in order to improve it.
  • Communicate with you about the Service (if you have given us permission to do so).
  • Fulfil our legal obligations.

4. What is the legal basis for processing your data?

Our processing of your personal data is based on the following legal grounds:

  • Consent: You have given us permission to use your data for a specific purpose (e.g. the use of certain cookies).
  • Contract: Processing is necessary to fulfil an agreement with you (e.g. to deliver the Service).
  • Legitimate interest: We have a legitimate interest in processing the data (e.g. for analysis and improvement of the Service), provided your interests and fundamental rights do not override these.
  • Legal obligation: We are required to process the data in order to comply with the law.

5. Do we share your data with others?

Your personal data is safe with us. We never sell it. In some cases we may share information with:

  • Service providers: Companies that perform services on our behalf (e.g. cloud services for data storage or analytics services). These are bound by data processing agreements and may only use the data for the purposes we have instructed them.
  • Public authorities: If we are required to do so by law.

Please note that information you choose to share publicly (e.g. in the Hall of Fame) will be visible to others.

6. How long do we store your data, and how do we keep it secure?

We store your data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described here, or for as long as the law requires. We take your security seriously and use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, loss or destruction.

Images you upload are stored securely, and you control who can see your catches.

7. Your rights

You have several rights regarding your personal data under GDPR:

  • Right of access to your personal data.
  • Right to rectification of inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Right to erasure of your personal data ("the right to be forgotten").
  • Right to restriction of processing.

  • Right to object to processing based on legitimate interest.
  • Right to withdraw consent: If we process data based on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time.
  • Right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority if you believe our processing of your personal data violates data protection law.

Contact us at the email address in section 1 to exercise your rights. To delete your account and all associated data, see the account deletion guide.

8. Transfer of data outside the EU/EEA

If we need to transfer data to service providers outside the EU/EEA (e.g. for cloud storage), we ensure that your data remains well protected through approved mechanisms such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or that the provider is certified under an approved framework.

9. Cookies

We use cookies to improve the user experience and analyse traffic on the website. Specifically, we use Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymised statistics about how the Service is used. This is only done if you give your consent via the cookie banner. Data collected by Google Analytics may be transferred to and stored on Google's servers, which may be located outside the EU/EEA (see section 8).
